Congratulations Reid and Brittany

I was so excited the day I opened my email and found out the Reid and Brittany were moving back to Winnipeg and were looking to buy a home. In the midst of Covid the had to quarantine her in the city after the long haul over and begin their new jobs here.

I have known Reid my whole life, and met Brittany for the first time via zoom meeting shortly after their arrival. I have to admit, I do not like meeting people for the first time via zoom and was excited to head out and start looking at homes with them.

On our first day out we found a home that was amazing. A little apprehensive as it was only the 5th house we had seen we got to work with a home inspection before offering as we knew there would be multiple offers. It was a great house with some very different wiring, wiring that even I hadn’t seen before. Called the first of it’s generation in terms of smart homes it was wired with 12 volt for all the lights. We cried together via zoom as there was a lot of uncertainty over what should be done, not wanting to disappoint each other and scared about jumping in. It was the hardest thing ever for me. I like being with my clients, so that we can sit and talk to each other, I would have been able to hug Brittany, and to help them though this better. But online via zoom it had to be.

We wrote an offer and didn’t quite get it. I always say “things happen for a reason” and just days later they informed me that we needed to put the search on pause as there was uncertainty surrounding their brand new jobs.

Once they waited it out and had assurance that their jobs were secure we resumed the search and got to work looking at allllll the homes. We saw one dud after another. We expanded our search area to explore new areas of the city, and I could feel the frustrations mounting. Try as we may, nothing was the right fit… until this one.

I saw Brittanys face light up and get so excited. It was such a classy house with all the right spaces that they were needing. After seeing it we had a half hour drive to the next house on our list that day, and it was evident that during that 30 min drive the two of them had talked a lot. Reid warned me that Brittany was already talking smack about the house we were ready to walk into and was ready to pick it apart in comparison.

At 6am the next morning I had the offer drafted and by that evening we had negotiated our way to a successful acceptance. We had amazing home inspection learning more about the home and all the reasons it was the right choice.

It was so awesome to work with the two of you. To see you again Reid after all these years and to get to know you Brittany and see all your personality come out. You were such a fun couple to work with even through all the highs and lows that we had. We did it together and I am thankful for your amazing attitudes and sticking with it. In 3 short weeks you can move into your home and start prepping for your new family and all the many years you will enjoy this home.
