Get Those Downspouts On!

We are about to get a January thaw, and while those temperatures🌡 will be thrilling for us to experience, you need to know what to do with your home when we get this quick melt.💦 

Number 1: GET YOUR DOWNSPOUTS ON! I think it feels counterintuitive to have them down during the winter,❄️ but there is always a bit of melt off of your roof, and on these warm days, there will be a lot. That water needs to be directed away from your foundation. If you don't, that water💧 is going straight to the corners of your house, freezing, and expanding. That is how we end up with corner cracks and cracks in the stucco on your home.😒 

Number 2: sump pump hoses, if you are able to, get a wide one on to direct the water away, for the exact same reason.✅ It is incredible how fast those pits can fill up and need to eject water during a little melt like this, and you won't want all that ice⛄ right near your home.
